Siraje Bazibu

Mr. Siraje Bazibu has over 15 years of vast practical experience grant management with international development partners including the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank, European Union (EU), German Development Services (DED), Royal Nertherlands Embassy, Royal Danish Embassy/DANIDA, Swedish Embassy/Sida, DFID and Government of Ireland/Irish Aid.  Over the years, he has gained expertise in grant managements, financial management, conducting potential grantee due diligence, resource mobilization, budgeting and project monitoring; Public-Private-Partnership management. designing grant management and tracking systems.

Mr. Bazibu served as a Social Business Consultant (SBC) for Yunus Social Business Movement (YSB), a global initiative founded by Peace Nobel Laureate Prof. Yunus Muhammad to create social businesses around the world as a means of addressing social and environmental challenges in a financially sustainable manner.  Mr. Bazibu helped to establish and promote the Social Business model aimed at lifting people out of poverty in Uganda (November 2013-February 2015)

He was employed as as a Grants Officer by Independent Development Fund (IDF), a grant mechanism for supporting Uganda’s CSOs in human rights, good governance, accountability and poverty reduction, where he helped to establish grants management systems and managed grants awarded to CSOs. (October 2008 to October 2011)

Mr. Bazibu was also employed by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) for over 15 years rising from position of ad hoc Monitor to full Grants/Scheme Officer and Grants Coordinator. He implemented several donor funded SME cost-share grants projects and schemes including; Business Uganda Development Scheme (BUDS) funded by European Union and World Bank’s Private Sector Competitiveness Project I and II, German Development Services-DED-PSFU Public Private Partnership (PPP) grant Programme funded by the German Government.

He also managed and championed the Technology Acquisition Fund (TAF), a grant component under the World Bank’s Private Sector Competitiveness Project (PSCP-II) of PSFU, which aimed at making Ugandan Exporters acquire new technology and equipment to improve on the quality of their exports.

He has a passion for research and capacity building and has provided consultancy for a number of CSOs, including Business Plan Competitions for Techno Serve Uganda under STRYDE project.  He is also involved working with various SMEs on a range of BDS services including business planning, market research, feasibility studies, financial management, business skills training and market linkages besides providing consultancy to CSOs in systems development and advocacy and fundraising for many CSOs.

He is currently managing and coordinating programs at Missing Link Uganda, an NGO that he started in February 2015 and focuses on health, poverty reduction, Gender Based Violence and environmental conservation.

Mr. Bazibu is currently finalizing his thesis on “Budgetary Management on the Performance of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda” in partial fulfillment of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) of Uganda Management Institute (UMI).  I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Makerere University, Kampala with certificates in Value Chain Development (VCD), Business Development Services (BDS); Consulting, Resource Mobilisation, among others.
